Detection of Lyme(Plus) patients as asked in European resolution

The patients of EuroLyme ask detection and treatment described in in the European Parliament resolution of 15 November 2018 on Lyme disease (borreliosis) (2018/2774 (RSP)).

This resolution calls for action
14. Asks Member States to expand the use of clinical examination so that doctors can diagnose Lyme disease even if the serology tests are negative, in order to help patients break the ‘therapeutic deadlock’.

This Eurosurveillance document shows how difficult it is to estimate the real numbers of Lyme patients
Epidemiology of Lyme borreliosis based on outpatient claims data of all people with statutory health insurance, Germany, 2019.

Chronic Lyme is on this list of EU underfunded diseases
Scoping study on evidence to tackle high-burden under-researched medical conditions.

LymePlus covers the disease caused by all borrelia species, all tick bite infections, linked bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi.

Common Symptoms of untreated (or insufficient treated) LymePlus Disease
- Fatigue
- Cognitive dysfunction
- Concentration problems
- Joint swelling and/or pain
- Hot/cold sensations
- Sore throat
- Unprovoked pain or cramps

LymePlus can be detected by means of a questionnaire.
For LymePlus patients, Dr. Horowitz's questionnaire is well known.

The questionnaire can be taken by a medical professional (doctor or nurse) after specific training.
Questionnaire and explanation are in the book

Download the questionnaire.

The questionnaire is an indication of the severity of the health condition caused by probable LymePlus infections.
This is not a strict diagnosis of any infection.
However an indication of the benefit of a long-term LymePlus treatment.

The typical LymePlus patient has vague irregular complaints and slowly deteriorates.
Attempting more physical exertion usually leads to increased fatigue and sometimes increased pain.
Because the physical cause is not addressed, treatment has little or no effect.
In children, memory problems often lead to misunderstanding, which is seen as a psychological illness.
The intention is to complete the questionnaire with these patients.
